Today I went wine-tasting in Constantia, a suburb of Cape Town about 25 minutes from where I’m staying. The Constantia Valley is known for its beautiful vineyards and world famous wineries.
We started with a tour and tasting at Groot Constantia, the oldest wine-producing estate in South Africa. The estate was established in 1685 and the wines produced there have been enjoyed by famous figures, like Napoleon, for hundreds of years. On the tour they explained how they make their red and white wines, and afterward we were able to taste them!
Aside from the tour and tasting, the vineyards surrounding the estate were beautiful, with a spectacular mountain view in the background.
After Groot Constantia we visited High Constantia Wine Cellar, a smaller boutique winery nearby. At High Constantia we were able to sit outside on an intimate patio and enjoy tasting three different wines.
Beautiful scenery, rich history, and wine tasting…. sounds like a fabulous steer to your journey! I look forward to your upcoming posts.
