Ob Khan National Park is located in the town of Hang Dong, about an hour drive southwest of the city of Chiang Mai, and about 27 kilometers north of my apartment in Sanpatong. I took a day trip to the park on my motorbike and, once I turned off the highway, it was a beautiful scenic drive through hills and mountains until I reached the dirt road that twists through the heavily forested park. Admission into the park is free and you won’t see many foreign tourists there. It’s not too crowded as you pass Thai families picnicking next to the creek, teenage boys cannon balling into the water, and a few park rangers hiking up to the viewpoints.
The sign. So you can be sure these pictures were taken at the right place. Beautiful forest. The ray of sunshine makes this picture. The creek. Calm swimming hole. Not the best area to swim. Nature is neat. What you can’t see in this picture is the guy who was swimming because I timed the shot perfectly so he would be underwater.
